Yeah, I know. It’s not Christmas. Christmas was, like, a week ago. And if you are like us, you were probably up to your elbows in cookies–either sweets you made on your own, or bags your friends and neighbors dropped by. The last thing you want to look at is pictures of cookies we made, but here they are anyway.
We made sugar cookies using this recipe we found linked in a Pioneer Woman post. Gahhhhh rolling out these cookies was a BITCH! And Frank and I (well, mostly Frank…I kid! Kind of…) aren’t all that good at decorating cookies, but man did they taste good!
We also made shortbread and dipped the cookies in chocolate and holiday sprinkles. Before making these, Frank and I had no idea that shortbread is basically just butter and sugar.
Finally, we made these wonderful chocolate barks. One is bittersweet chocolate swirled with milk chocolate and topped with pretzels, and the other is milk chocolate swirled with white chocolate and topped with crushed peppermints. I’m obsessed with the pretzel one and I am still eating it from the fridge…
And just as a Christmas update, we received some nifty gifts. I got my first dutch oven and I’m already in love. We also got this awesome cutting board from Crate and Barrel, as well as a gift certificate from the aunt and uncle (we are already drooling at the possibility of purchasing a pasta roller…). And Frank got a tripod and new lens for his camera. Now that the holidays are over, we’re hopping back into normal life (and hopefully more new dishes for YOU).
